It all started the morning of June 30th this year …..

The wake-up call played early on the morning of June 30th this year. A few moans were heard throughout the gym but mostly the air was filled with anticipation. It was the anticipation of what the first full day at Eternal Warrior would be like.

To get it started, the kitchen window went up and the boys all got their first taste of Eternal Warrior Power Cake! It’s the way they started each day with a special service technique that Coach Cal introduced them to – everything turns into a game or competition at camp – even that first taste of “goodness.”

Since camp has ended, we have received more than a couple of requests for the recipe. So, here it is ….

Eternal Warrior Basic Power Cake

2 cups flour
3 cups oatmeal (cooked for a moist cake, uncooked for the dry version)
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup honey

Mix the ingredients altogether and then add any of your favorite fixings and mix again until blended. Some ideas for the fixings include shredded carrots, raisins, chopped apples, walnuts, almonds, pineapple, peaches, or you might sneak in a few chocolate chips for a sweet treat! Spray a sheet pan (16X12) with a baking spray, pour your batter into it, and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

It doesn’t just happen

For each Eternal Warrior that attended the Eternal Warrior Wrestling Camp I think that you all know that your graduation shirt wasn’t just handed to you- each and every one of you earned that shirt and the bragging rights that came with it. Whether you earned it in 2011 or any other year, you earned the right to call yourself an Eternal Warrior. And let me ask you this, was it easy? Were any of those log workouts, live sessions, team olympic competitions, or Dickey Lake runs easy? Not to mention the 5:45 a.m. wake up calls. There is a reason that becoming a warrior wasn’t easy. It’s the same reason that not everyone can call themselves a warrior; not everyone is willing to put in the blood sweat and tears that it takes to call yourself a warrior. I’m not just talking about all the Eternal Warriors either- I’m also talking about those men and women that choose to fight for what God has called them to battle for. Check out what O2 Experience speaker Levi Lusko has to say about being a warrior in his blog “It Doesn’t Just Happen”, but not just a warrior; a warrior for Christ who is the ultimate warrior.

After the Graduation…

The camp has officially come to an end with the completion of the graduation ceremony. Gino Calavitta and Ty Giovanetti were named little guy and big guy champ respectively while Mitchell Woods received the “Most Inspirational” award. I think it’s safe to say that all the boys are ready to go home tomorrow for some rest and recovery- and not waking up to “I Can Only Imagine” for another morning! What a great camp!

It is Finished

Today all of the campers completed the 1 mile swim, 16 mile run, and 3 1/2 mile run with their log that is known as the triathlon up here in Trego. Needless to say, everyone came back to camp and ate and fell asleep. But as usual, the day isn’t over yet, the boys get to go to Pottersfield Ranch for a special performance with Mike Rozell and a barbeque that the ministry is hosting just for the wrestlers. Then later comes the graduation ceremony where the campers find out who graduated the camp, who completed the camp, and who earned the right to call themselves camp champ- stay tuned!

5:45 a.m.

5:45 a.m. comes early when you have a triathlon to complete…with the first wave going out at 6:30 and the second at 7:00, the campers have one last early day tomorrow. Then they can finally call themselves ETERNAL WARRIORS!

The final day

It’s the final day before the triathlon! And the boys are ready to go. They get to have their final technique sessions today with @mark_munoz, start cleaning up the school, a little bit of light training on account that tomorrow is the big day! A one mile swim, 16 mile run, and a 4 mile run with their log- all in under 6 hours! It’s one of the many graduation requirements that the campers are challenged with up here in Trego before they can call themselves ETERNAL WARRIORS! Stay posted for more updates…

The O2 Experience

Last night the wrestlers had the privilege to attend “The O2 Experience” in Kalispell, MT. You see, at Fresh Life Church last Sunday, one of the members decided that he wanted to buy each of the wrestlers a wristband so that they could attend The O2 Experience. The conference was a one of the kind event where the wrestlers had the opportunity to listen to the bands @TheAlmost and @dominicballi and Levi Lusco’s talk about life, death, sex and romance. In his words, the experience “is geared at revealing the fact that like our bodies need oxygen, our souls need God.” And let me tell you, it was a one of a kind experience; between listening to Levi Lusco’s talk about purity and the meaning of life, having some of the campers accept God as their savior, and rocking out to the bands- we couldn’t have asked for a better night!

Mark Munoz is here in Trego, MT! And we are super pumped to have him up here with us! The campers will get the chance to talk with Mark about his wrestling and UFC career, and learn about the awesome person Mark is. More to come soon- about Mark and the O2 Experience the boys were fortunate enough to attend last night! Stay tuned…

2400 bales of hay in the field…

2400 bales of hay in the field, 2400 bales of hay, you pick one up, throw it on the truck, 2399 bales of hay in the field…That’s right- yesterday the campers bucked and stacked approximatley 2400 bales of hay for one of the locals up here in Trego. And they did a great job! Here’s how it worked. Each team was assigned a truck with a trailer to buck the hay onto, complete with a bale counter- one of the helpers at the camp. You see, for every 20 bales of hay that each boy bucked he earned a merit point for himself, and the team with the most bales of hay bucked also earned points for their team. So, the boys picked up the bales of hay out of the field, stacked them onto the trailer which then drove the bales of hay to the barn where they boys were stacking them up. By the time they were done there was literally a mountain of hay bales in the barn! Which meant that the boys could eat of course! The local that the campers helped provided the boys with as much food as they could eat, and back to Trego School the boys went; full, tired, and ready to go to bed, because they have a full day ahead of them today!
